How much in advance should I start packing to move?

Writer: JM Lead Strategies LLCJM Lead Strategies LLC

Moving is enough of a bummer without packing, but starting early lets you stay organized and (mostly) feel on top of things.

Start your packing at least 6 to 8 weeks ahead (depending upon the size of your home) or, at best, 4 to 6 weeks before your planned moving date if you opt to move out of a small apartment. This timeline will help you clear out, organize, and pack without being in a time crunch.

Step 1: Declutter Early

Begin with decluttering your home. Walk through every room and choose what to keep, donate and what you can throw away. This will help reduce what must be packed and transported and save time and money.

You may want to hire a packing company near me or research some of the professional packing services local companies offer to truly make it easier for you.

Step 2: Pack and Moving Non-Essential Items

Once you’ve decluttered, begin packing non-essential items. Start with seasonal items, decorations, and anything you don’t use daily. Be sure to label each box with explicitly what is included and in which room the box belongs.

Step 3: Final Two Weeks

Focus on essentials in the final two weeks. Clothing, toiletries and kitchen items should be packed any time near the moving day. It’s also time to arrange for full-service packing and moving or professional packers and movers if you genuinely require help.

Why Hire Professionals?

If you don’t have much time or you’re running a large family, hiring a packing and moving service is quick and convenient as they take care of packing and moving your items safely and efficiently. That’s where companies like Movers On The Go step in to provide reliable pack and move services, which will surely save you a lot of trouble.

For busy schedules or complex moves, hiring packing and moving service providers like Movers On The Go ensures your belongings are handled with care.
